Plant Engineer – Greater Chicago Area Our manufacturing client is seeking a

Plant Engineer

to join their

greater Chicago area

team. On site; local candidates only.

Base pay range: $115,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr.

Employment type: Direct hire.

Responsibilities

Manage engineering support for plant operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Troubleshoot daily equipment and tooling issues.

Design and recommend tooling improvements and material changes.

Maintain and update all plant technical drawings and records, including layouts, tooling drawings, and specifications.

Provide technical data, comparator graphs, and CNC programming support to production teams.

Ensure accurate documentation control, including revisions and file security.

Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

Oversee engineering aspects of plant projects, ensuring timely and cost‑effective completion.

Create layout drawings and feasibility studies for new projects.

Manage contractor coordination, project budgets, and safety compliance.

Process and track Project Appropriation Requests (PARs) and cost controls.

Support cost‑reduction projects such as layout optimization and material efficiency.

Maintain tooling and spare parts inventory within budget.

Manage asset control processes, including annual inventory and disposal approvals.

Partner with accounting to track capital assets and spending.

Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and engineering procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical).

5‑10 years production or manufacturing experience, including some within a supervisory position.

Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing teams.
