Job Description
The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine seeks applications to join our clinical faculty as a psychologist at our Pain Management Clinic. Responsibilities
Work in our Pain Management Division at our Pain Management Clinic to evaluate and provide psychology services to patients with chronic and acute pain.
Conduct clinical interviews to obtain a comprehensive patient overview, discuss educational history, physical and mental health issues, social factors, substance use, and family dynamics; conduct screening and comprehensive diagnostic psycho‑educational evaluations to provide appropriate psychotherapy to patients and/or clinical trial participants.
Provide individual or group counseling, clinical consultation, and evaluate the appropriateness of patients for pain surgical procedures including intrathecal drug delivery systems and stimulators, and evaluate patients for the appropriateness of ketamine infusion therapies and/or opioid therapy.
Collaborate with attending and trainee physicians to provide high quality comprehensive care to our patients, and provide didactics in the realm of pain psychology to our fellows and residents.
Possibly be involved with outreach initiatives.
Qualifications
Ph.D., Psy.D. or equivalent; be licensed or license‑eligible as a clinical psychologist; completed an accredited clinical psychology internship.
Background in pain psychology preferred.
Compensation & Application Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. A completed pre‑employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment.
