Overview The Restaurant Manager is responsible for overseeing all front-of-house (FOH) operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and coordinating seamlessly with the Head Chef and back-of-house (BOH) teams. This position demands hands-on leadership, operational expertise, and a passion for hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Front-of-House Operations:
Lead and inspire the FOH team to deliver exceptional hospitality; oversee daily FOH operations, ensuring a warm, welcoming atmosphere; manage reservations, seating flow, and guest satisfaction; resolve guest concerns with professionalism and care.
Kitchen & Service Coordination:
Maintain strong communication between FOH & BOH; coordinate timing for food preparation and delivery; communicate dietary restrictions and special requests to the kitchen; support seasonal menu updates, new dish launches, and special events.
Team Leadership & Training:
Recruit, train, and mentor FOH staff to uphold service standards; conduct pre-shift briefings to align the team with daily goals; foster a positive, respectful, and high-performance culture; enforce company policies, safety standards, and labor compliance.
Customer Engagement:
Act as the face of the restaurant, greeting and connecting with guests; monitor satisfaction via reviews, feedback, and in-person interactions; develop strategies to drive repeat business and enhance experiences.
Financial & Operational Management:
Oversee and manage the restaurant’s Profit & Loss (P&L) statement, ensuring revenue goals are met while controlling labor, food, and operational costs to maximize profitability; manage labor costs through efficient staffing and scheduling; oversee FOH inventory management, ordering, and vendor relationships; track sales performance, labor costs, and operational KPIs to identify trends and areas for improvement; collaborate with ownership to develop budgets, forecasts, sales growth strategies, promotions, and events; implement cost-control measures that maintain exceptional guest experience and quality.
Marketing & Events:
Partner with management on marketing campaigns and event execution; support influencer collaborations and promotional activities; plan and execute special events, private dining, and loyalty programs; respond to online guest reviews on platforms such as Google and Yelp.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager in upscale or fine dining environments.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Passion for Japanese cuisine and culture (highly preferred).
Proficiency with POS systems and inventory management software.
Solid financial acumen, including P&L management, cost control, and profitability strategies.
Hands-on, solutions-oriented approach with a strong guest-first mindset.
Knowledge of Japanese food, beverages (beer, wine, liquor, sake), and health & safety regulations.
