Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting
Publicly traded, Digital Media company with an international footprint and an experienced, stable management team seeks a Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting. This individual will be responsible for the production and drafting of the quarterly and annual SEC documents, technical accounting research, and collaboration closely with Investor Relations and the business.
Base pay range:
$190,000.00/yr – $220,000.00/yr
Additional compensation types:
Annual Bonus and RSUs
Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation and production of quarterly and annual SEC filings (Form 8-K, 10-K, 10-Q, Proxy, etc.), including financial statements, business sections, risk factors, and MD&A; coordinate with operations to update business sections and risk factors.
Support management in preparing SEC forms for M&A or any capital markets activity.
Lead the preparation and presentation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
Draft appropriate disclosures through industry and peer benchmarking for quarterly and annual filings.
Draft technical accounting memos related to debt, share‑based compensation, derivatives, and purchase accounting.
Review and update XBRL for financial statements to the appropriate US GAAP taxonomy during filing cycles.
Support the preparation of materials for audit committee and disclosure committee meetings.
Coordinate communications with external auditors on financial statements to ensure agreement on disclosures and reporting issues.
Research and document new SEC rules, accounting pronouncements, and internal technical issues; assist in implementing solutions.
Assist with SOX testing, including walkthroughs and internal controls.
Support the Director of Corporate Accounting with all close and revenue‑related issues.
High‑achieving candidates with significant experience may be considered for a reduced in‑office schedule; remote candidates in the Eastern time zone willing to visit NY periodically are eligible.
Qualifications:
BS/BA in Business, Accounting or Finance with a CPA.
At least 10 years of experience in public accounting and industry (media/technology preferred).
Star candidates from Audit or Advisory may be considered.
Superior business partnership, written and oral communication skills.
Ability to interpret and apply U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements for publicly traded companies.
Demonstrated ability to perform technical accounting research, write effective position papers, and communicate appropriate accounting treatment.
