Overview

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities

Conceptualize and develop mechanical engineering solutions that deliver water to the end customer in their desired form (e.g., bottling, residential refrigerator, community jug filling) while maintaining water quality in a cost-effective and elegant manner. Perform solution concepting, CAD modeling/drawings, prototyping/sourcing of proof-of-concept, creation of DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and respective product validation test plan, and change control. Provide bandwidth to the design team throughout the product design cycle. Apply appropriate risk assessment and seek parallel tasks in decision making to meet project timelines. Create and present mechanical engineering project updates. Collaborate with Reliability and Test Engineering to document, prioritize, and perform product reliability and validation testing. Collaborate with Manufacturing to improve Design for Manufacturing (DFM) through vetted design improvements. Collaborate with Supply Chain and contract manufacturers to vet outsourced products and processes. Review internal and external part deviation requests. Education and Experience

Education required: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other mechanical-centric engineering discipline and 6 years of experience in mechanical design. Background

6 years of experience in: 3D CAD (SolidWorks) experience; Mechanical design engineering in consumer products, delivering technical, manufacturable, and commercialized solutions; Owning a sub-system from inception through release; Experience with various manufacturing processes, especially injection molding, rapid prototyping, sheet metal fabrication (preferably high-volume stamping), casting, and machining; Statics, strength of materials, thermal and fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and applying such knowledge in a fast-paced environment; Simulating flow through complex geometries using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), including SolidWorks Simulation, and validating results on physical prototypes using a wide array of measurement techniques; Ensuring quality over details in all phases of a mechanical project.
