JOB TITLE: Quality Engineer LOCATION: Russell Springs, KY (on-site, 5 days a week). Relocation help available if not local. TARGET SALARY: $75-90k+ depending on experience. Qualified candidates will join a team that receives and inspects materials and products for conformance to specifications and supports customers/suppliers with PPAP, Control Plans, and problem solving. The role includes directing the day-to-day activities of Quality Inspector/Technician direct reports. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Examine material or product for surface defects Verify specified dimensions of product or material Reject defective parts, and mark type of defect on part, container, or inspection tag Interpret engineering drawings using geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and consult with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards Select products for tests at specified stages in production and test for various qualities (dimensions, performance, mechanical characteristics) Perform mechanical and analytical testing Operate diagnostic equipment needed to perform the job Perform related duties as needed by supervisor Familiar with ASTM Standards Calibrate gauges and measuring devices (including environmental) Responsible for receiving inspections and testing Apply strong mechanical inspection techniques Ability and experience with optical comparator, coordinate measuring machine, and different gaging techniques Maintain and update Document Control System (if assigned) Knowledge of Statistical Techniques (Line, SPC, Capability Studies, etc.) Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements Communicate information from customer scorecards to the team and to suppliers Audit suppliers to standards and complete supplier scorecards Working knowledge of Core Tools to support the Quality Management System (problem solving, product launches, continuous improvement) Ability to perform PPAP and PFMEA Contribute to directing day-to-day activities of Quality Inspector/Technician direct reports Fulfill supervisory responsibilities for direct reports (timecards and disciplinary) May serve as the deputy for the Quality Manager as required for quality-related responsibilities Perform any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary and appropriate Qualifications
An experienced engineer with appropriate industry experience, preferably in the automotive manufacturing field. Traits include energy, forward-thinking, ethics, strong technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus. The candidate should be well organized, self-directed, and a team player with excellent communication skills. A Bachelor's degree in Science or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field) is preferred, with two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and data, and effectively communicate information to all levels of the organization. Benefits & Additional Information
