Perform and analyze clinical laboratory tests in all laboratory disciplines by standard operating policies and procedures. Understand method principles, perform quality control, perform preventative maintenance, review, and analyze results to ensure accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.

Minimum Qualifications

What you bring:

Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science OR Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science, or 30+ years of related experience under CLIA grandfathered exception.

Current licensure as required by state board (MD, OH, PA: none; WV: Medical Laboratory Scientist license or Trainee license).

Certification as a Medical Technologist / Medical Lab Scientist by ASCP or AMT.

Experience as a Medical Technologist.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Process and analyze samples, in a timely manner, meeting productivity levels and ensuring accurate identification.

Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments per policies.

Perform quality control in all technical areas and follow infection control procedures.

Perform phlebotomy procedures on patients as needed.

Complete forms and report findings to nurses/physicians.

Interact with other healthcare workers to interpret patient lab results.

Perform routine and basic laboratory testing within the designated area.

Recognize testing inconsistencies and take corrective action.

Maintain specimen records accurately.

Follow safety and infection control guidelines.

Communicate professionally with patients, families, physicians, and staff.

Physical Requirements

Strength/stamina to lift, move, stoop, reach, stand, walk, and carry materials and equipment.

May sit for extended periods.

Working Environment

Exposed to strong or unpleasant odors.

May encounter agents that can cause serious disease.

Skills and Abilities

Able to multitask and handle stressful situations.

Able to communicate effectively.

Able to work well as part of a team.

Basic computer skills.

Job Details Once trained, this staff member will work rotating weekends and holidays.
