This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program. The position will be hired on a SuccessFlex basis. The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of Columbus, OH (One Nationwide Plaza, 43215). The work schedule is three days in the office and two days remote.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain, use, and develop quantitative analytics using intermediate to advanced statistical or econometric techniques to enhance portfolio risk management and optimize portfolio construction.

Assist in the implementation and delivery of analytics to different areas of risk and investments.

Keep abreast of current financial markets, macro events, industry trends, trading activity, and regulatory developments, and connect them to the potential impact on portfolio risks.

Assist with scenario analysis, stress testing, cycle analysis, factor analysis, and performance attribution to provide insights on portfolio risks/returns, asset allocation, and sector allocation.

Develop and assess quantitative modeling solutions that meet key business needs.

Collaborate with departments across the organization to accomplish strategic goals and objectives.

Build risk analytic strategies for business problems through consulting and driving expectations.

Ensure consistent model assumptions, processes, and outputs, and uphold modeling standard methodologies across the enterprise.

Craft clear and concise summaries of findings and recommendations, using impactful storylines and data visualization for technical and non-technical audiences.

Develop, test, implement, and administer complex quantitative modeling processes and tools.

Evaluate and rank quantitative solutions to business problems.

Communicate the key benefits and limitations of sophisticated modeling tools for business applications.

Work across teams to ensure governance of modeling tools is applied consistently.

Qualifications & Experience

Understanding of credit risk and fixed‑income securities, with demonstrated curiosity in analyzing risk in fixed‑income portfolios.

High level of quantitative aptitude and potential to learn technical and reporting tools.

Demonstrated interest in programming and data visualization software.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex quantitative analysis to senior management.

3–5 years of investment, risk management, or quantitative modeling experience (graduate work may substitute for work experience).

Typical experience required is seven or more years of related work in financial risk modeling or actuarial functions.

Education & Certifications

Undergraduate studies in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related subject area required.

Graduate‑level studies in a related field with an advanced degree highly desirable.

Progress toward FCAS, FSA, CQF, or CFA, or similar certifications preferred.
