Payroll Lead
Soni is partnering with a Central NJ organization in the search for a Payroll Lead to oversee all aspects of payroll processing for a workforce of 750–1,000 employees. This role ensures payroll accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while partnering with HR, Finance, and Operations to support seamless end-to-end processes.
Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Process & Manage Payroll: Lead full-cycle payroll for a large, multi-shift employee base, ensuring accuracy in complex pay rules, including union contracts and shift differentials.
Reconciliation & Reporting: Reconcile payroll data, journal entries, and interfaces to the General Ledger; maintain salary and accrual integrations.
Tax & Compliance: Prepare, file, and remit all payroll taxes while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
System Oversight: Manage and optimize payroll systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, UltiPro); support implementations and process automation.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements that improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting capabilities.
Audits & Budget Support: Assist with financial audits and payroll budget planning.
Collaboration: Partner across departments and provide guidance to payroll staff as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
3 - 5+ years of payroll experience, ideally in a unionized or complex pay environment (750+ employees).
Strong knowledge of payroll tax filing and reconciliation.
Experience with ADP Workforce Now a must; system implementation experience a plus.
Advanced Excel and reporting skills; detail-oriented with strong analytical ability.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
