Base pay range $80,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr
The
Payroll Tax Analyst
is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. This role handles the preparation, reconciliation, and filing of payroll taxes, manages tax notices, and supports audits. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Filing & Compliance
Prepare, file, and remit federal, state, and local payroll taxes on a timely and accurate basis.
Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
Reconcile payroll tax liabilities and prepare necessary adjusting entries.
Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of tax data between payroll systems and general ledger.
Generate and review quarterly and annual payroll tax reports (e.g., Forms 941, 940, W-2, W-3, and state equivalents).
Assist with year-end processing and W-2 distribution.
Research and resolve payroll tax discrepancies, including agency notices and employee inquiries.
Act as a liaison between the company and tax agencies to resolve issues promptly.
Process Improvement
Identify and implement process improvements related to payroll tax functions.
Assist in maintaining payroll system tax configurations and setup.
Audit Support
Support internal and external audits by providing payroll tax documentation and analysis.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
2–5 years of payroll tax experience (multi-state preferred).
Experience with large payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
Skills:
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws.
Proficient in Excel and other data analysis tools.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Compensation:
$80,000 to $85,000 annually
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
