Role Overview Interprets provider orders and prescriptions, compounds and dispenses medications within regulatory guidelines and professional standards.
Consults with patients and others as required regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions. Provides drug information to patients, health care workers and others as necessary.
Provides oversight and supervision of pharmacy technicians and other supporting staff, directing workflow and ensuring completion of duties.
Demonstrates clinical expertise in area of practice.
Responsibilities
Interpret prescription and medication orders completely and accurately and complete necessary steps for clarification and validation for safe and effective patient care in compliance with state/federal rules and regulations.
Demonstrate professional judgment in advising and counseling patients and healthcare team.
Monitor drug utilization information and detect potential drug interactions, overlaps, over‑ and under‑dosing and other unique situations.
Participate in Code Blue and other emergency situations to ensure adequate drug supply and appropriate drug use.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science or Pharm D
Licensed Pharmacist (RPH)
Basic Life Support – CPR Cert (BLS)
Preferred Qualifications
1 year hospital experience
Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Protocol (NRP)
