Job Description TRP seeks a passionate, collaborative, and innovative staff attorney to handle affirmative and removal immigration cases within the Immigrant Justice Legal Clinic. The attorney will maintain a caseload, collaborate with attorneys, accredited representatives, and paralegals, and provide expert legal services to our clients.
Responsibilities
Provide expert consultation and representation to clients, including case preparation and follow‑up.
Maintain a caseload in areas such as U‑visa, VAWA, TPS, asylum, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), naturalization, petitions for family relatives, and removal.
Stay current on immigration law and procedures through research and training.
Make appropriate referrals for immigration services beyond the scope of the program.
Maintain comprehensive, up‑to‑date client records and notify clients of all activity regarding their case in a timely manner.
Participate in case review and other meetings to provide excellent quality service to all clients.
Attend required educational programs and staff meetings.
Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications
Juris Doctorate degree OR Full DOJ Accreditation.
At least one year of experience in affirmative immigration law; experience in removal defense strongly preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced community nonprofit.
Excellent verbal, analytical, writing, and organizational skills.
Proficient knowledge of MS Office and case management software.
Highly motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail.
