Join Arcadis as a Senior Process Mechanical Engineer in the California Water Business.
Role description As part of a strong and supportive team, you will deliver innovative mechanical design and process integration solutions for municipal and private sector water and wastewater projects across a variety of market sectors. You will work on large water/wastewater treatment facility upgrades, local system upgrades, facility feasibility studies, and other project types, contributing to our global Resilience business area.
Role accountabilities • Lead the mechanical design and process integration for cutting‑edge treatment facilities, reservoirs, and pumping or lift stations; produce comprehensive construction documents and detailed specifications for pumps, valves, gates, and related mechanical components. • Perform design calculations, equipment sizing and selection, cost estimation, and develop technical memoranda to document design rationale. • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure fully integrated design solutions and support project management activities such as budget and schedule tracking. • Contribute to business development, proposal preparation, and mentoring of junior engineers while maintaining rigorous quality‑control reviews.
Key skills and attributes • Proficient in mechanical design standards and familiar with bid‑build or alternative delivery projects. • Strong working knowledge of CAD and BIM, plus Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. • Self‑motivated work ethic with the ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and operate under direction.
Qualifications & experience
Required
– B.S. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and 10+ years of process mechanical engineering experience for water and wastewater facilities; Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of California.
Preferred
– Mechanical or Civil P.E.; 15+ years of relevant experience.
Benefits & compensation • Salary range: $109,000 – $185,000. • Health, dental, and vision coverage, EAP, 401(k), STD & LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program, optional wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance, tuition reimbursement. • Nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO accrue per year.
