Data Engineer II - Copilot Insights

The Copilot Insights team leads efforts across Office to drive Copilot value and usage by analyzing large data sets, integrating real‑time analytics, and informing feature design. We monitor key metrics, expand data capabilities, and collaborate across teams to shape data‑driven insights that guide product development.
Responsibilities
Partner with Project Managers, Technical Leads, Applied Scientists, and Data Scientists to define user requirements and incorporate feedback into data solutions.
Build scalable, low‑maintenance data pipelines and dashboards that provide actionable insights on Copilot usage.
Develop and improve monitoring systems for real‑time signal detection, automate root‑cause analysis, and ensure continuous observability.
Contribute to product architecture, design documentation, and code validation, while learning and applying security and compliance requirements.
Review work items, break them into tasks, estimate effort, and identify blockers that could delay delivery.
Leverage internal and open‑source data engineering tools to debug, maintain, and optimize robust pipelines.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, or related field and 1+ year experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, or related field and 2+ years experience in the same areas.
Equivalent experience in lieu of formal degree.
1+ year experience building and maintaining large‑scale data pipelines using SQL, Kusto, or Scope, Azure Data Factory or similar orchestration, and data analysis tools such as Python, Synapse, or R.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience in analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering.
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in the same domain.
Equivalent experience.
1+ year experience with data governance, data compliance, or data security.
Security Clearance
Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
