Purpose This highly collaborative role within the J&J Innovative Medicine Global Development Portfolio, Performance, and Insights group will help shape a broad range of topics that are critical to improve organization awareness and understanding of the Global Development Portfolio. The Portfolio Analytics Manager role will support generation of insights and opportunities within the portfolio and performance space to find newer, simpler & more effective ways to communicate complex and dynamic information.
You Will Be Responsible For
Collaborate across Global Development Portfolio, Performance, and Resourcing teams to generate insights for R&D and Global Development stakeholders
Work on ad‑hoc portfolio information requests from across GD functional leadership
Engage stakeholders to collect data and design appropriate reporting and analytical frameworks
Interpret and put into context analytical findings for impacted business stakeholders
Address portfolio and performance related questions in an effective, compelling way to ensure customer buy‑in
Design and develop portfolio scenario modelling capabilities to analyze portfolio and performance
Create and deliver crisp and impactful presentations of findings to internal and external stakeholders for decision making
Communicate insights and recommend business actions to stakeholders in an easily digestible fashion
Interpret portfolio progress & develop critical insights to inform prioritization
Integrate project and trial level detail into a cohesive end‑to‑end portfolio story
Monitor & understand dynamic portfolio changes and its impacts (timelines, FTEs, financials, etc.) on portfolio decisions/recommendations
Provide insights and proactive forward‑looking information across our R&D Portfolio & clinical trial programs leveraging data from our planning systems
Design new data capabilities and ensure data quality from various systems (e.g. Planisware, iAWARE, CTMS, etc.) are available for ad‑hoc reporting needs
Ensure efficient and effective connections, insights and influence across GD stakeholders, and key stakeholders in other functions (e.g. Finance)
Ensure that financial project support is achieved, including cost analysis, final study budgets, and maintenance in planning and forecasting systems across R&D, Global Development
Continuous improvement to our portfolio reporting, planning capabilities and processes and providing input into the design of the operating model to optimize planning/forecasting
Proactively build and maintain internal (across J&J) and occasionally external relationships that support the gathering of business intelligence to support financial & specific operational activities
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree is required. An advanced degree in a scientific or business field and/or master’s degree is preferred
A minimum of 5 years’ experience with a pharmaceutical company and/or a CRO is required
Expertise in the areas of drug development, financial operations, and strategic planning is required
Experience working with diverse teams in a direct and matrixed environment is preferred
Strong planning skills, well organized, focused on results, and capable of leading multiple projects is preferred
Solid understanding and experience with information systems (e.g. Planisware, CTMS) and financial aspects of clinical operations is highly preferred
Candidate should possess strong analytical, conceptual, communication and social skills
Leadership skills including overall business mindset, big picture problem solving with attention to detail, interpersonal skills, excellent presentation and communication skills
Results and performance driven and ability to lead in a complex environment
Possesses the ability to think creatively and work in a team environment
Individuals must be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Up to 10% travel – domestic & international
Compensation & Benefits The anticipated base pay range for this position is $115,000 to $197,800. The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus, and employees may be eligible to participate in a range of company‑sponsored benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability, business accident insurance, group legal insurance, a 401(k) plan, and a consolidated retirement plan (pension).
Time Off Benefits
Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year
Sick time – up to 40 hours per calendar year (up to 56 hours per calendar year for employees residing in Washington)
Holiday pay, including floating holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year
Work, personal and family time – up to 40 hours per calendar year
