Sony Pictures Television Studios (SPTS) is one of the industry’s leading content providers, producing programming worldwide across genres and platforms. About the Role As part of the SPT Insights, Strategy, and Analytics team, this Manager will work in a consultative manner with senior executives and cross‑functional teams to deliver insights that inspire creative development, content strategy, and marketing. This role is a key member of a team that is an expert on the entertainment marketplace, commissioning trends, customer needs, and audience tastes.

Using secondary & syndicated data, primary research, ratings & consumption data and social listening, the Manager will support key SPT series throughout their lifecycles and provide actionable insights and strategies in support of assigned titles/genres. The Manager, Insight, Strategy & Analytics will report to the Executive Director, Insight, Strategy & Analytics – Scripted Procedurals & Game Shows.

Responsibilities

Embed with internal teams as the “face of research” on any research aspect of assigned titles.

Provide holistic insights that pull together primary, syndicated, social and performance data on titles and synthesize into a cohesive story.

Produce and present insight deliverables on titles, including performance insight memos, social analysis/strategy, franchise insights, etc.

Lead title research including design, fieldwork, and execution of primary research studies such as IP evaluation, concept explorations, pilot testing, season diagnostics, etc.

Generate material across title life‑cycle – sales, brand partnerships, consumer products, experiences, etc.

Manage projects with internal stakeholders and external vendors, actively communicating on timelines, budget and deliverables.

Coordinate with partners across Sony Pictures Entertainment and contribute to cross‑functional teams with multiple stakeholders.

Leverage primary and secondary research and data sources to evaluate genre landscape and content trends.

Generate strategic insights on genre and content trends to future‑proof creative strategies.

Represent genre expertise internally – design a roadmap of projects and deliverables to proactively communicate genre insights as a vital, trusted resource for senior leaders.

Enhance understanding of the competitive landscape.

Clearly articulate and translate complex data‑driven insights into crisp, actionable takeaways.

Develop strategic insights and communicate them to creative teams and senior leaders.

Present findings to key stakeholders including senior leadership, development, current programming, marketing/PR, EPs, production companies, etc.

Liaison between US/Culver City teams in all areas (e.g., TV Production Insights, Data Analytics).

Collaborate closely with team members to provide holistic insights.

Establish close, effective relationships with creative, marketing and partners across Sony.

Qualifications

5-7 years of experience in media and entertainment research, market intelligence, data analytics, social data analytics, and/or business strategy or consulting.

Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and tell clear, concise stories with data.

Expert understanding of the TV landscape, including linear networks, digital platforms and emerging media platforms, as well as the TV production business model.

Experience with Nielsen Ratings viewership measurement, Ad Intel, and digital (AVOD, VOD, SVOD, etc.).

Experience with social and YouTube measurement to report on social campaign performance and identify trending content and audience behaviours, familiar with tools such as Talkwalker, Tubular and TikTok analytics.

Familiarity with or fluency in managing qualitative and quantitative primary research projects.

Experience working with Creative Executives a plus.

Proficiency with analytical tools such as Tableau and Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word).

Strong interpersonal and consensus‑building skills with ability to communicate and achieve results across multiple stakeholders.

Confident and self‑motivated; able to own projects and execute at a high level.

Respectful, friendly and approachable with a positive outlook and attitude.

Exceptional organization and project‑management skills; ability to prioritise multiple projects.

Collaborative and transparent with experience working in a matrixed, multicultural and international organisation.

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Economics, Psychology, Social Sciences, Data Science or a related field.

Passion and curiosity for film and television.

Compensation The anticipated base salary for this position is $90,000 to $120,000. The role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits.
