The Role Skytap, a Kyndryl company, is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with strong expertise in enterprise networking and cloud interconnects. You will play a critical role in keeping our hybrid network infrastructure reliable, scalable, and secure. This role requires hands‑on technical depth in routing, automation, and documentation, with opportunities to help shape connectivity between data centers, cloud platforms, and customer environments.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancers.

Interconnect on‑prem networks with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) using ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, VPN, and virtual network peering.

Operate and troubleshoot multi‑site, multi‑datacenter connectivity, ensuring high availability and resiliency.

Monitor performance, analyze traffic patterns, and adjust routing for latency, scale, and fault tolerance.

Support lifecycle management: upgrades, patches, firmware maintenance, and structured change management.

Produce clear high‑level design documents, detailed design documents, topology maps, and runbooks; ensure they remain current as changes are introduced.

Collaborate with other teams in the organization to align designs with business and compliance requirements.

Participate in capacity planning and forecasting; ensure network can accommodate growth.

Build automation into day‑to‑day operations and deployments using Ansible, Python, and Terraform.

Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical peers and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required Skills And Experience

5–8+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.

Strong with BGP, OSPF, VRF, and EVPL.

Experience designing/operating multi‑cloud interconnects (ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, vWAN, transit gateways).

Automation skills with Python, Ansible, and Terraform.

Comfortable with data center spine/leaf concepts.

Strong troubleshooting of routing incidents across hybrid environments.

Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Skills And Expertise

Experience with observability and visualization tools (e.g., Grafana, NetBox, SolarWinds, InfluxDB/Telegraf).

Exposure to AI‑assisted troubleshooting and monitoring platforms (AI‑driven log analysis, anomaly detection).

Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOC2) and how they impact network design and operations.

Experience implementing segmentation and zero‑trust principles in enterprise or hybrid networks.

Understanding of firewall rule management, policy audits, and secure connectivity patterns across cloud and on‑prem environments.

Certifications such as CCNP (Enterprise, Datacenter, Security), CCIE (Enterprise, Datacenter, Security), or cloud networking credentials (Azure, AWS, GCP).

Compensation The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is $96,480 to $183,240 based on a full‑time schedule (location ranges vary: California $106,080–$219,840; Colorado $96,480–$183,240; New York City $115,680–$219,840; Washington $106,080–$201,480; Washington DC $106,080–$201,480). For part‑time roles, compensation will be adjusted appropriately. Pay will not be below any applicable minimum wage requirement.
