Kyndryl
Network Architect (at Skytap, a Kyndryl company)
Who We Are
At Kyndryl, we design, build, manage and modernize the mission‑critical technology systems that the world depends on every day. So why work at Kyndryl? We are always moving forward – always pushing ourselves to go further in our efforts to build a more equitable, inclusive world for our employees, our customers and our communities.
The Role
Skytap, a Kyndryl company, is looking for a Network Architect who will design the next generation of our global and hybrid cloud network infrastructure. This role focuses on advanced routing and architecture, spanning data centers, cloud environments, and customer interconnects. The architect will partner with peers across the organization to define standards, create resilient designs, own the lifecycle of network architectures, and troubleshoot complex routing issues in production.
Duties and Responsibilities
Define and design global network architectures: multi‑region cloud, data center fabrics (spine‑leaf, EVPN‑VXLAN), WAN backbones, and interconnects.
Own routing strategy: advanced BGP, OSPF, route policy, traffic engineering, multi‑region HA, and failover.
Conduct deep troubleshooting of complex routing and connectivity incidents (asymmetric routing, convergence, loop prevention).
Lead architecture governance: participate in design councils, peer reviews, and enforce standards.
Produce high‑level design documents, detailed design documents, detailed topology maps, and reusable templates.
Build architectures aligned with business growth, resiliency, disaster recovery, and cost objectives; evaluate and pilot emerging networking technologies (SD‑WAN, SASE, network automation frameworks).
Design under security‑first principles, with segmentation and zero‑trust models. Guide capacity planning and lifecycle management, including upgrades and decommissioning strategies.
Mentor engineers, present designs to technical and executive stakeholders, and integrate feedback from other teams in the organization.
Communicate complex network architecture concepts to both technical peers and business stakeholders.
Required Skills and Experience
10+ years of networking experience with at least several years in architecture.
Expert in BGP (communities, policy, traffic engineering) and OSPF.
Proven design experience with hybrid cloud interconnects (ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, transit gateways, vWAN).
Deep knowledge of data center fabrics including EVPN‑VXLAN overlays.
Strong automation skills with Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
Strong documentation discipline, including the ability to create high‑level design documents, detailed design documents, runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
Multi‑vendor knowledge (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, F5).
Skilled in global‑scale networking: multi‑region deployments, customer interconnects, enterprise WAN.
Strong communication: able to defend design decisions, facilitate tradeoffs, and mentor peers.
Preferred Skills and Expertise
CCIE (Enterprise, Datacenter) or equivalent expert‑level certification strongly preferred; cloud advanced networking certs desirable.
Knowledge of performance optimization techniques such as QoS design and latency tuning.
Cloud networking certifications (AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate, GCP Network Engineer) beyond CCIE.
Familiarity with open‑source networking tools and platforms (NetBox, FRRouting, SONiC).
What We Offer
Competitive salary and benefits package.
Opportunities for professional growth and development.
A dynamic and inclusive work environment.
The chance to work with a leading global IT services company.
Compensation
The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is
$120,360
to
$228,840
based on a full‑time schedule.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
