Job Title : Director of Print and Mail Operations
Location : Tempe, AZ
We are working with a rapidly growing company who is on a mission to help brands create meaningful connections with their customers at a time when digital channels are crowded, expensive, and harder to measure. They are building tools that make it simple for companies to engage their audiences in ways that feel personal and effective. With consistent year-over-year growth, over 100 team members, and strong backing from top-tier investors, the business is profitable and scaling fast.
As they continue to scale, they’ve expanded print operations across multiple sites in Tempe, Arizona and the East Coast. With a growing team of ~20 full-time production professionals (and additional seasonal staff), the Director of Print and Mail Operations will own all aspects of production performance - ensuring exceptional print quality, operational efficiency, and on-time delivery while driving innovation, cost optimization, and scalability across the network.
This role manages their site leads, who manage local production teams, and works closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, and their customer-facing teams.
This is a full time, permanent position onsite in Tempe, AZ.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain capacity models to forecast operational throughput across sites, factoring in personnel, equipment, and seasonal demand
Own and manage all operating expenses related to print production and postage
Oversee submission and optimization of USPS mail discount programs to maximize savings and compliance
Lead a team of full-time print professionals and seasonal staff, fostering a culture of efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement
Provide strategic recommendations on equipment, software, and process investments to support growth and scalability
Negotiate and manage vendor relationships for raw materials (e.g., paper) and equipment service providers, ensuring competitive pricing and reliability
Manage external vendors for outsourced components of the operation (e.g., catalogs and specialty mailings)
Partner with Product and Engineering to implement new technology and streamline production workflows
Must-Have Skills
5+ years managing commercial print or direct mail production
Experience with digital and offset printing and finishing/binding operationsStrong understanding of USPS postal regulations and logistics processes
Proven success managing budgets, forecasting, and optimizing production costs
Demonstrated ability to scale operations and implement new technologies in a high-growth environment
