Position Overview:
Collects blood specimens, receives, handles and processes specimens for laboratory testing. Interacts with patients of diverse backgrounds. Receives, sorts and accession specimens, assigning to appropriate pre‑analytic and analytic workflows. Completes computerized tasks related to patient registration, test order entry, specimen collection, receiving and processing. Performs basic post‑analytic tasks such as distributing reports and storing/retrieving specimens. Completes quality‑related tasks including documentation, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and monitoring pending work with escalation of priority work. Operates basic pre‑analytic lab equipment and adheres to all regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety.
Education HS Diploma: High School or General Education Diploma (GED)
Certification & Licensure
CPTI‑Certified Phlebotomy Technician I
CPT II‑Certified Phlebotomy Technician II
Experience 1 year recent relevant experience
Skills and Knowledge
Ordering laboratory testing
Collecting blood specimens
Compassionately and effectively interacting with patients
Handling and processing biological specimens routinely submitted for analysis
Accurate, precise and reliable performance of job duties
Organizing and prioritizing tasks for timely completion
Workflow Management Ability
Responding to fluctuations in volume
Handling unexpected situations or problems such as equipment or system failure
Managing shift‑to‑shift hand‑offs
Responding to STAT test orders
Addressing specimen integrity issues
Reviewing pending logs and priority assignments
Adherence to Practices & Procedures
Following standard practices, processes and procedures in sequence
Knowledge of applicable regulations, codes, policies and procedures for privacy and safety
Applied Job Knowledge, Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
Solid critical thinking and decision‑making

Shift Details Job Shift: Varied Schedule: Full Time Shift Hours: 8 Days of the Week: Variable Weekend Requirements: Rotating Weekends
