Summary Under the direction of the Assistant Manager of OR Materials Management, the OR Materials Technician is responsible for the day‑to‑day availability of supplies and equipment for assigned OR service lines and areas. The role provides essential materials management support for surgical services, exemplifying Rush mission, vision, and values while adhering to all Rush policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum 2 years of experience in Healthcare Materials Management, Sterile Processing, Purchasing, Distribution, or Receiving.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Knowledge of Omnicell hardware/software functions.

Understanding of Materials Management/Purchasing and Inventory Control processes.

Knowledge of surgical equipment and supplies.

Basic understanding of clinical terms and procedures.

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure and strict deadlines.

Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and oral communication skills.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Experience with the Lawson ERP system (including the Mobile Supply Chain module).

Responsibilities Responsible for effective distribution of surgical supplies and equipment to designated Omnicells, support rooms, re‑stock cabinets, sterile areas, and all appropriate arenas within the Operating Room.

Receive, unpack, and deliver surgical supplies and equipment ordered from outside vendors and off‑site warehouses.

Review and verify accuracy of shipments by counting and comparing packing lists with receiving/delivery tickets.

Perform basic contract administration by following up on back‑ordered supplies with surgical buyers and notifying the appropriate Assistant Unit Director (AUD) or service.

Assist management personnel in maintaining predetermined par levels of supplies.

File all pick‑tickets, purchase requisitions, and delivery tickets in departmental closed files.

Interact with physicians, nursing, purchasing, delivery services, and other operating room personnel in a cordial and professional manner.

Maintain environmental cleanliness and order in specific work areas.

Provide after‑hour coverage on heavy caseload days.

Work on weekends as required.

Participate willingly in quality improvement processes.

Ensure that order placement and delivery dates meet nursing needs.

Collaborate with clinicians to problem‑solve issues regarding purchase orders, receipts, loaners, credits, substitutes, and stock‑outs.

Perform quarterly and fiscal year‑end physical inventories.

Provide assistance, guidance, and backup for related personnel in the Materials Management department.

Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
