Job Title Software Test Automation Engineer

Location Apex, NC (Onsite, Full‑time)

Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Software QA Engineer to support our New Product Development initiatives at our Apex, NC site. This role is ideal for a hands‑on tester who thrives in a fast‑paced, creative environment and is passionate about delivering high‑quality smart products. The candidate will contribute to firmware, software, and mobile app testing across the full product lifecycle from concept to post‑release.

Responsibilities

Design and execute test plans for technically advanced IoT products.

Develop test cases based on functional requirements, user scenarios, and customer needs.

Own and maintain software test documentation throughout the development lifecycle.

Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams.

Support manual testing efforts including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.

Contribute to the development of custom automated test applications and test harnesses.

Apply best engineering practices within a stage‑gate product development framework.

Demonstrate urgency, creativity, and commitment to software quality and reliability.

Perform functional and regression testing on embedded firmware and edge devices.

Conduct IoT device validation including connectivity, sensor feedback, and control logic.

Execute mobile app testing across iOS and Android platforms, validating cloud‑device interactions.

Develop and maintain automation scripts using tools such as Selenium, Katalon, or TestProject.

Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines and test management tools (Jira, Zephyr, Jenkins).

Essential Skills

Hands‑on experience with C/C++, C#, and Qt.

Direct coding and debugging skills in these languages for testing embedded systems, firmware, and software platforms.

Exposure to IoT device testing and automation scripting for firmware/software/mobile platforms.

Experience with automation tools/frameworks: TestProject, Ranorex, QTP, UFT, Selenium, Katalon.

Understanding of the software development lifecycle.

Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

3–5 years of experience in software, firmware, or mobile app testing in a product development environment.

Familiarity with manual testing methods: unit, integration, and UAT.

Experience with scripting languages and static analysis tools.

Exposure to Linux and embedded systems.

Experience with Git, AWS integration, Agile/CI processes, and test management tools like Zephyr, QC ALM.

Work Environment The position is based onsite in Apex, NC. The work environment involves engaging with advanced IoT technologies and requires a proactive approach to quality assurance in a collaborative setting.
