Postdoctoral Associate - Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine
Florida International University (FIU) is seeking a full‑time, non-tenure, Postdoctoral Associate within the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine. The candidate will conduct lung research focused on HIV infection and cigarette smoke exposure and their impacts on inflammation and airway innate immunity. The role includes animal work, data analysis, manuscript writing, grant support, and service to the College of Medicine.
Responsibilities
Conduct laboratory experiments on HIV infection and cigarette smoke effects in lung tissue and animal models.
Analyze scientific data, including statistical and bioinformatics analyses.
Write manuscripts for peer‑reviewed publications.
Develop and support grant proposals to NIH, DoD, NSF, and other funding agencies.
Serve on College committees and act as a reviewer for scientific journals.
Provide mentoring and engage in safety and ethical research practices.
Qualifications
Terminal degree (PhD) in a relevant field.
Experience working with animal models and lung comorbidities in HIV.
Proficiency in Omics data analyses: RNA‑seq, single‑cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, and metabolomics.
Strong project and time‑management, interpersonal and mentoring skills.
Commitment to research safety and ethical conduct.
