Infection Prevention Nurse Reports To
Director of Nursing Job Summary
The Infection Prevention Nurse oversees the Infection Control Program, collecting and assessing data, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, developing care plans, monitoring program effectiveness, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, local regulations and Alden Network policies. Responsibilities
Collect and analyze infection data. Collaborate with the team to develop injury prevention plans. Maintain the infection log and oversee the Antibiotic Stewardship Program. Ensure compliance with current infection control standards and facility policies. Educate staff, patients, and families about infection prevention practices. Conduct active surveillance and track transmission‑based precautions and antibiotic usage. Assist nursing leadership with competency completion related to infection control practices. Participate in quality assurance, team meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent experience (minimum 1 year in health care or long‑term care). Valid RN license (or LPN if acceptable) in the state(s) of the facility location. Completed Infection Preventionist course within 30 days of employment. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer‑service skills. Current CPR certification (obtain within 90 days). Current and unencumbered RN license. Knowledge of epidemiology, public health practices, and long‑term care regulations. Ability to make independent decisions, lead, and supervise as required. Physical Requirements
Walk, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly. Resilience to mental, emotional stress and exposure to infectious waste. Compliance with COVID‑19 testing requirements. General good health and emotional stability. Essential Functions
Ensure all infection control procedures follow company policies. Collaborate with all disciplines within the facility. Maintain accurate infection log and oversee antibiotic stewardship. Drive compliance with McGreer's criteria, track and trend infection control measures. Provide education and training on infection control practices. Assist in nursing leadership’s competency completion. Perform other duties as assigned. Benefits
