Applications Specialist – Laboratory Automation (East Coast)

Job Summary The Applications Specialist is a customer‑focused role that drives sales engagement and helps customers maximize the value of our software. The position combines scientific expertise, technical solution design, and hands‑on system support to ensure successful deployment of laboratory automation solutions.
Core Functions
Partner with Sales Managers to support the progression of new business opportunities into delivered projects, including in‑depth analysis, technical solution design, and presentations to de‑risk the process.
Collaborate with internal colleagues and current customers to verify all system purchase elements meet the customer’s needs, handling hand‑over to the deployment team and providing technical implementation, acceptance testing, or support when required.
Position Responsibilities
Analyze customer RFPs to define optimal technical solutions, workflow modeling, throughput analysis, instrument specifications, and system layouts.
Compose technical documentation for proposals and specifications and deliver presentations that support the sales process.
Work with Project Managers and Deployment Specialists to ensure accurate system deployment.
Assist in developing client protocols that run on our robotic systems.
Participate in conferences, trade shows, and marketing efforts in partnership with the sales team.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry application trends, new devices, instruments, and software tools.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
Minimum BS degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.
At least five years of industry experience, preferably in biotechnology.
Experience with automated laboratory systems in high‑throughput screening, compound management, drug discovery, genomics, or research automation settings.
Exceptional communication, presentation, customer service, and negotiation skills.
Experience with scheduling software for automated laboratory systems is a plus.
Experience with custom scripting of lab automation instrumentation or with larger custom software or LIMS integration projects is a plus.
