Overview
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology beginning January 2026 or until filled. The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratories in Mechanical Engineering. The candidate may be required to teach in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program. The teaching load is 9 instructional units each semester. Responsibilities
Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering and advanced graduate courses in the candidate\'s research areas. Teach courses in Robotics, Mechatronics, Acoustics, Vibrations, Statics, Dynamics. Lead Machine Design, Solid Modeling, and Mechanical Engineering laboratories. Provide teaching assignments that may include day and/or evening classes as needed. Advise undergraduate and graduate students; supervise graduate research projects. Establish and maintain an externally funded research program that includes support of graduate and undergraduate students. Engage in research and professional development, including participating in professional meetings and workshops and establishing relationships with industry. Serve on program, school, college, and university committees; engage in other service and research activities. Publish scholarly articles in conference proceedings and technical journals; assist with ABET accreditation activities in the school for the Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs. Participate in outreach activities; perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required Education and/or Experience: PhD in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline (degree must be from an accredited university). ABD may be considered. BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. Demonstrated strong English communication skills. Preferred Education and/or Experience: Prior teaching engineering courses. Experience teaching in a hybrid or online environment. Expertise in engineering software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Ansys, MATLAB. Post-doctoral or industrial experience. Experience in the use of Artificial Intelligence in research is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to develop and teach courses and laboratories in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology. Demonstrated strong English verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate with existing faculty. Salary Information
