Quality Assurance Manager, North America QHSE, Air & Sea US
Location: USA – Itasca, IL area (Arlington Heights Rd). Time Type: Full Time. Division: Air & Sea. Job area: Quality.
Summary
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring that DSV's transportation and logistics operations meet industry standards and customer requirements. The role involves implementing quality assurance procedures, managing audits, and overseeing compliance with regulations and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Train & implement ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 requirements for DSV locations within the area of responsibility (AR).
Perform internal QHSE audits according to the regional audit plan.
Perform external supplier audits as needed.
Conduct periodic quality, health, safety & environmental (QHSE) gap analyses in AR and engage local QHSE agents as needed if performance is not met.
Conduct incident/accident investigations and ensure effectiveness of corrective actions.
Provide guidance to the AR on identifying and implementing local HSE laws and monitor compliance.
Coordinate environmental activities with local QHSE agents, including Eco-Consumption data collection, sustainability campaigns, and communication of key environmental documents to ensure ISO 14001 compliance.
Continuously identify and evaluate Customer/Industry requirements.
Support customer audits for the AR.
Cross-functional root cause/corrective action problem-solving.
Authority to stop work when deemed unsafe within AR.
Communicate openly, effectively and confidently; robust time management and decision-making skills.
Build relationships across different functions.
Ability to travel domestically 20-30% within AR.
Educational background / Work experience
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, logistics, engineering, or quality management is typically required. A Master's degree may be preferred.
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in quality assurance in the transportation and logistics industry is usually required.
Experience managing audits and implementing corrective actions is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles, practices, and methodologies.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to transportation and logistics.
Function / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Processes
Supervisory Responsibilities (if any): The Quality Assurance Manager may supervise a team of quality assurance professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certification in quality assurance, such as Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).
Experience with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Language skills
Fluent in English (oral and written).
Computer Literacy
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, and experience with quality management software or related tools.
