Schedule:
Day Shift — 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (8 hours + 30-minute lunch)
Must-Have Requirements
Dependability and punctuality are essential.
Willingness to work during the day shift when the night supervisor is unavailable (in compliance with safety policy).
Ability to perform bench-level mechanical and materials testing using Instron systems and related software.
Job Description A leading global medical technology company located in northern New Jersey is seeking a Mechanical Test Technician to support its engineering and test laboratory operations. This company provides innovative solutions to advance medical research and genomics, enhance diagnostic capabilities, improve medication management, and promote infection prevention. The role reports to the Supervisor/Manager and involves applying technical skills and knowledge to support daily lab activities, including equipment qualification (IQ/OQ), test method validation (TMV) and development (TMD), and engineering testing for design verification (DV), stability, and feasibility studies.
Responsibilities
Execute moderately complex test requests with limited supervision.
Perform tensile and compression testing using Instron Software (BlueHill 3 or BlueHill Universal).
Support test method validation (TMV) and test method development (TMD).
Review test requests to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Maintain compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Troubleshoot issues and inconsistencies in testing requests.
Contribute to process improvements and lab efficiency initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering, Applied Science, or related discipline — no experience required, OR
Associate in Applied Science (AAS) — no experience required, OR
High School Diploma with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a regulated industry or laboratory setting.
Additional Qualifications
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Detail-oriented and organized.
Ability to collect, record, and report data accurately.
Solid understanding of basic mathematics.
Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
Developing technical writing and root cause analysis skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating and troubleshooting mechanical test equipment.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.
Familiarity with Instron systems and BlueHill software.
