Position Summary This position is accountable for providing field engineering project support. This includes planning, organizing, and directing work of one or more survey parties engaged in surveying earth's surface to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction or other purposes.

The incumbent will typically work closely with the Project Manager, Project AGS and Superintendent, laborers and other skilled or semi‑skilled craft persons on the jobsite to ensure successful project completion and close‑out.

Specific Responsibilities

Research previous survey evidence, maps, physical evidence, construction documents and other records to obtain data needed for layout.

Determine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.

Understand functions of total station, data collector and laser level.

Provide control lines for all crews as well as lay out edge forms, columns, cast‑in‑place walls, footings, piers, anchor bolts, embeds, shoring and scaffolding. Responsible for providing elevation benchmarks, deck elevations, and site work.

Check plumbness of all columns and walls before and after concrete placement.

Verify deck elevation prior to concrete placement.

Keep accurate notes, records, sketches and as-built drawings for locations and elevations.

Provide own transportation when assigned.

Coordinate findings with engineering and architectural personnel, clients and other concerned parties.

Study and utilize architectural, structural, civil and shop drawings.

Maintain and carry necessary tools at all times.

Assist other crews when possible.

Mentor and train employees.

Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

Authorized to stop work whenever an unsafe condition is observed.

Comply with all applicable laws, regulations and company policies.

Report any violations promptly.

Perform other related administrative and technical duties as assigned.

Position Requirements A minimum of five years of work experience is required. Prior hands‑on experience in the concrete construction industry is preferred. The successful candidate must demonstrate high‑level problem‑solving abilities and technical skills.

In Addition, The Incumbent Must

Use Topcon robotic total station equipment.

Navigate through plans.

Have excellent computer skills and be knowledgeable with Microsoft Office and PlanGrid.

Demonstrate excellent customer service and organizational skills.

Be bilingual in Spanish/English.

Quickly learn the technical aspects of the business.

Have excellent communication skills.

Interface well with employees at all levels.

Be a self‑starter able to work with minimal supervision.

Be flexible and adapt to sudden changes in priorities.

Prioritize work to accommodate changes.

Be diligent and detail oriented.

Be prepared to travel to multiple jobsites during the normal workday.

Physical/Mental Requirements The incumbent must perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The incumbent must also wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel‑toed shoes, or other gear as required.

The incumbent must be able to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management.

The incumbent must remain calm during emergencies, respond appropriately, and evacuate safely if required.
