Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Eaton AER FMC Division, Charleston, SC
Base pay range: $93,750.03/yr – $137,500.05/yr
Eaton’s AER FMC division is currently seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer at our Charleston, SC facility. This location serves as a Machining Center of Excellence for our Aerospace Group, with approximately 200 employees manufacturing hydraulic pumps for commercial and military aircraft.
Responsibilities
Implement process improvement initiatives: Cycle Time Reduction, Tooling Cost Out, Set-up Reduction, Process Capability/First Pass Yield.
Create machining processes from blueprints using CNC turning, milling, grinding, and honing.
Design cutting tools and fixtures for metal removal processes; troubleshoot and develop processes.
Introduce new products via the New Product Introduction process, ensuring right‑first‑time quality.
Participate in Rapid Improvement Events to eliminate waste and promote standardization.
Research and implement new technology as part of the site’s capital strategy.
Develop mistake‑proofing methods for continuous improvement.
Support overall manufacturing strategy aligned with cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
Address safety concerns including lock‑out/tag‑out, machine guarding, and ergonomics.
Adhere to Eaton safety policies and standards; fulfill Quality Policy and Management System requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a machining environment with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, OR 10 years with an associate degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum 3 years of CAM experience in milling operations.
U.S. person status required for access to export‑controlled information.
Candidates must reside within a 50‑mile radius of Charleston, SC (Active‑Duty military exempt).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
10+ years of manufacturing machining engineering experience.
5+ years of CAM experience on complex components; experience with Gibbs CAM / Master CAM.
Expertise in milling (3‑5 axis) and other material removal processes: turning, grinding, honing.
PMP certification.
Vericut knowledge.
Robotic automation experience.
Position Criteria
Strong written and verbal communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
Hands‑on mechanical/manufacturing experience.
Knowledge of machining production, lean manufacturing, quality control, 5S, Six Sigma, and quality systems (e.g., QS‑9000, ISO 14001, ISO‑9001, AS9100).
Experience with fixed and controlled processes, PPAP, and Microsoft Office.
