QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER – FOOD SERVICE – CHARLESTON, SC
We are seeking a motivated, food‑safety focused professional to serve as Food Service Quality Assurance Manager for Chartwells Higher Education in Charleston, SC. In this role you will oversee the overall operational safety of a dining account, ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining strong relationships with the university and its stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Perform unit‑level surveillance safety audits across multiple areas.
Identify deficiencies and implement corrective strategies.
Provide written feedback to unit managers on audit findings.
Attend meetings, workshops, and special events related to safety.
Lead Health Division inspections and third‑party food safety audits.
Conduct safety training and manage food allergen compliance.
Maintain and update Food Safety Plans.
Assist unit managers in implementing Compass safety standards.
Provide QA training and one‑on‑one coaching for management.
Verify daily operation of safety systems.
Act as a flexible safety specialist and first responder when needed.
Contribute to the development of organization‑wide guidelines and procurement strategies.
Assist with the management of annual procurement budget and vendor base.
Preferred Qualifications
B.S. in food technology, food science, or related field.
At least 5 years of direct experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety.
Experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, or Operations.
ServSafe certification.
Certified Registered Sanitarian or related health permitting credentials.
Strong knowledge of FSMA.
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
