Job Description and Duties
This position is under the direct supervision of the Hydraulics/Stormwater Branch Chief, with coordination from the District 3 Stormwater Coordinator. Provides engineering support of the Design Stormwater program and related engineering services on an as-needed basis. Implements the daily requirements of the Design Stormwater Program as set forth in the current Statewide Stormwater Management Program (SWMP) and Project Planning and Design Guide (PPDG). Coordinates with Senior Engineers, Project Engineers, Construction Staff, NPDES Staff, and other units on stormwater deliverables for department projects. Travel is required. A current California driver’s license is required when operating a state-owned vehicle or driving for state business. If MQs are met under Pattern II and the TE Civil in-person written hurdle is required, do not take the TE Civil online exam before passing the written hurdle. For education requirements, contact Human Resources prior to taking the online Training and Experience Evaluation. For ABET accreditation, refer to ABET programs. Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Transportation Engineering (Civil) exam. If you do not have current eligibility, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible. Working Conditions
Location: 703 B Street, Marysville, Yuba County. Multiple positions may be filled. Headquarters in Marysville with travel for meetings and training. Work occurs in a climate-controlled office and outdoors; conditions may include dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, and extreme heat or cold. Periodic travel for fieldwork and training; occasional overtime and overnight travel. Travel may require state-provided vehicles. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required for operating state-owned vehicles. This position may be eligible for telework, subject to policy. In-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. The selected candidate may need to commute to the headquarters as needed. Business travel may apply and reimbursement considerations follow state regulations. The rotation program for Transportation Engineer (Civil) is a mandatory 24- to 33-month assignment for new engineers, with rotations through Design and Construction units and other assignments as needed.
