Job Summary / Purpose This position serves as a subject matter expert in a technical discipline. The Engineer collaborates with other engineering disciplines and craft employees to develop and maintain design and construction standards for Utility Distribution, including distribution apparatuses, controls, communication, and metering.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Plan and conduct independent engineering work that requires judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Devise new approaches to solving problems within the Utility Distribution domain.
Work within a team environment to create and maintain material specifications, material standards, and processes.
Future duties may include overhead & underground construction, Distributed Energy Resources, distribution transformers, or engineering support.
Persons In These Roles Are Expected To
Represent Entergy as a technical expert within the industry.
Represent Entergy Power Delivery in standards discussions and utility practices as the industry evolves.
Work with consultants and equipment manufacturers and interface with departments on technical issues.
Lead the development of System / Power Delivery processes and procedures.
Act as a change agent for achieving Power Delivery objectives.
Provide guidance and coaching to other departments on engineering matters.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline from a four-year accredited institution (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial). Degrees in engineering technology from a four-year accredited institution with a PE may be considered. A strong preference for Electrical.
Minimum Experience Required:
0–2 years in an engineering discipline.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight; work within geographically diverse teams; lead small projects; critical thinking; produce written reports supporting standards; strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; PC and related software proficiency; basic theory of electricity; interpret construction drawings; manage multiple activities and priorities; identify process improvement opportunities.
Desired:
Knowledge of electrical distribution material and construction practices; understanding of NEC, NESC, or other national codes and standards.
Certificates, Licenses, Etc. Required:
Valid driver's license. PE desired but not required.
