The Power Electronics team is responsible for end‑to‑end design and development of power electronics for multiple Caterpillar applications. We are seeking a
Senior Associate Electrical Engineer
to be responsible for delivery of electrical designs necessary for the successful development of low‑voltage power electronics components, including inverter and converter systems. This will include design, layout and simulation of printed circuit boards, bus bars, sensors, harnesses, and electronics packaging. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a highly experienced team of engineers having significant experience across Caterpillar electric drive applications.
Responsibilities
Creating new electrical designs and resolving issues regarding the manufacturing or building sequences. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
Planning and improving engineering procedures and operations to make the product or process more reliable, efficient and cost‑effective.
Collaborating with all functional areas (marketing, purchasing, manufacturing) to provide a design solution that meets the requirements of the customer and dealer network.
Qualifications Degree Requirement
Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering Degree required
Analytical Thinking
Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Level Working Knowledge – approaches, comparison, uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc.
Engineering – MFG knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
Level Working Knowledge – problem resolution, drafting, specifications, installation, maintenance, repairs, etc.
Product Testing – knowledge of testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
Level Working Knowledge – document test process, analyze defect‑tracking, summarise features, test components for compliance, etc.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems – knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Level Working Knowledge – document common hardware/software/communication problems, troubleshoot typical technical problems, use vendor‑specific diagnostic guides, adhere to standard troubleshooting procedures, etc.
