Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Construction Litigation Associate to join our growing team in Colorado. This is a full‑time position and an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney to work on complex construction disputes while collaborating with industry‑leading professionals in a collegial environment.
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
4-7 years of litigation experience, preferably with a focus on construction law
Strong academic credentials
Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Proven ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively
Preferred Qualifications
Experience handling construction defect claims, contract disputes, mechanic's liens, and payment bond claims
Knowledge of Colorado construction law and procedures
Experience with all phases of litigation including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial
Familiarity with construction contracts, industry standards, and technical terminology
Background in engineering or construction‑related field (beneficial but not required)
Responsibilities
Represent clients in all segments of the construction industry, including design‑builders, general contractors, subcontractors, specialty contractors, owner/developers, and suppliers
Negotiate, draft, and review construction contracts, including various AIA agreements, subcontracts, supply agreements, purchase orders, master services agreements, and other construction and development‑related documents
Represent clients in state and federal court and in arbitration forums
Litigate construction claims, including breach of contract, breach of warranty, construction defects, schedule impacts, delay, disruption, acceleration, labor productivity, sequencing, inefficiency, differing site conditions, defective specifications, design errors and omissions, change orders, and payment claims
Handle all aspects of construction litigation matters from inception through trial and appeal
Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
Take and defend depositions
Manage discovery processes and client communications
Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations
Collaborate with expert witnesses and consultants
Develop case strategies and provide practical legal advice to clients
Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as appropriate
Contribute to firm business development initiatives
What We Offer
Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
Salary range for this role depends on experience and ranges between $155,000–$220,000
