Job Description The PMH‑NP will provide primary mental health and substance use care services, including biopsychosocial assessment and diagnosis of patients with mental illness or substance abuse in an integrated setting. The role includes medication and psychotherapeutic management and consultation to the primary care/behavioral health care team.
Key Accountabilities
Perform comprehensive mental health assessments using critical judgment.
Apply differential diagnosis and integrate various data sources to diagnose patients.
Plan and implement therapeutic interventions to help patients achieve optimal health.
Maintain productivity and documentation standards; engage in EHR system testing and audit preparation.
Cultivate strong patient relationships.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Active participation in interdisciplinary primary care and mental health care teams.
Providing integrated service delivery to patients.
Developing rapport and consulting with primary care and behavioral health providers.
Upholding ethical and legal standards of mental health care.
Knowledge of DSM‑V‑TR and ICD‑10 billing practices.
Knowledge of Arizona Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA), AHCCCS Complete Care (ACC‑ Medicaid), and other health plan service requirements.
Recognize cultural variations in psychiatric signs and symptoms.
Integrate cultural, ethnic, and spiritual influences into treatment planning.
Commitment to process and quality improvement.
Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe, and electronic health records.
Effective oral and written communication.
Openness to change and leadership of change initiatives.
Professional integrity and strong work ethic.
Confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and agency policies.
Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted license to practice in Arizona.
Master’s degree in nursing with a psychiatric nurse practitioner specialty from an accredited program.
Board certification required.
Three years of experience as a PMHNP highly preferred.
Experience working with diverse populations in community health settings preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Experience with NextGen Electronic Health Record (EHR) preferred.
Valid Arizona driver’s license with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years; no more than two at‑fault accidents in the last three years.
Must pass a criminal background check and obtain a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within ninety (90) calendar days of employment and retain validity while employed.
Must pass substance abuse testing upon employment and submit to random testing during employment.
Must provide an updated immunization (IZ) record at the time of employment.
Must have a current (within 12 months) tuberculosis skin report at the time of employment, with annual updates.
Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within ninety (90) calendar days of employment and maintain it during employment.
Work Schedule Part‑time: 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
Compensation Starting hourly pay: DOE.
