Key Responsibilities

Assess physical and mental condition of patients through comprehensive or problem‑focused physical examinations and medical histories.

Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and healthcare needs.

Prescribe, recommend, or employ medical drug therapies or other therapeutic treatments and procedures in accordance with approved policies, emphasizing efficacy, safety, and cost.

Formulate and implement evidence‑based, patient‑centric treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.

Counsel patients and families on medical processes, health management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.

Maintain accurate records detailing patient treatment plans and outcomes; initiate timely consultation or referral when scope of practice is exceeded.

Provide specialized consultation level services for conditions related to the PA’s specialty and training.

Perform invasive procedures within scope of practice, as delegated by supervising physician.

Support department coverage needs beyond regular schedule as required.

Key Success Factors

Skill in diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating physical and mental dysfunctions.

Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and critical‑thinking skills.

Proficiency in using computers and related software applications to manage patient care.

Ability to develop and implement comprehensive, outcomes‑based patient treatment plans.

Capability to counsel patients on medical and psychological conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification.

Capacity to interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.

Current Texas PA license and NCCPA certification.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Minimum one year of clinical experience in a relevant setting.

Active PA license in Texas.
