We are seeking a
Senior Project Manager (PMP certified)
to manage and deliver complex IT projects involving multiple teams and workstreams under an aggressive delivery schedule. This role focuses on
migrating systems to Azure
and requires strong technical project management and stakeholder coordination skills.
Under the direction of a program manager, the Project Manager will lead assigned projects through all phases—Pre-Select, Initiation, Planning, Execution & Control, and Closeout—following the Commonwealth Standard for Project Management.
Responsibilities
Serve as a hands‑on technical project manager with development staff and business groups.
Coordinate and communicate with ITD management and staff to schedule work tasks and allocate resources.
Communicate timelines and expectations to technical and business staff.
Collaborate with vendors, consultants, and contractors, including contract management and coordination with the procurement office.
Collaborate with technology leads and solution architects to incorporate agency best practices into project plans.
Maintain project budget, plans, tasks, schedules, risk logs, and status, and disseminate information to team members and customers as defined in the communications plan.
Monitor progress by third‑party vendors and define and measure their performance with metrics.
Ensure documentation of requirements and use cases, facilitating design workshops for assigned projects.
Define test objectives and design test plans and test cases for assigned projects.
Manage project milestones and deliverables for on‑time and on‑budget delivery.
Define, measure, and clearly communicate progress with metrics.
Support system and application training efforts.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience managing large projects and a bachelor’s degree.
Experience managing large, multi‑stream projects.
PMP or qualification under Commonwealth of Virginia Qualification Standards for IT Project Managers for Category 4 Projects (see
link ).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in both Agile and Waterfall project management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, Project Server).
