Vice President of Finance .
Salary $120k - $140k
Position Overview Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President of Finance is a full-time, exempt leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including accounting, payroll, grants, compliance, budgeting, and strategic planning. This position plays a vital part in organizational decision-making and supports the agency's mission through sound financial stewardship and collaborative leadership.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic financial guidance to executive leadership and the Board.
Supervise and develop the Finance team, including the Director of Accounting.
Oversee financial operations, audits, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Prepare and present annual budgets, cash flow analyses, and monthly financial statements.
Coordinate grant and funding source budgets and ensure accurate reporting.
Manage relationships with auditors, banks, vendors, and external partners.
Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance with all federal and state regulations.
Lead annual audits, including Single Audits when applicable, and ensure timely filing of 990 and 5500 returns.
Support the resource development team with financial insights related to fundraising and grants.
Maintain retirement plans and ensure accuracy of all related filings.
Required Experience / Skills
CPA designation (required).
Minimum of 10 years of finance experience, including 5 years in nonprofit management.
Proven leadership experience in accounting, payroll, and compliance functions.
Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, restricted funds, audits, and grant management.
Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Sage financial systems, SAP software, and ADP payroll systems.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Familiarity with federal grant compliance (2 CFR 200) and multi-source funding streams.
Experience with nonprofit financial management systems and investment management.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (Master's preferred).
