Position Description
Perimeter College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in Education. This is a teaching-focused position: 80% of the workload is instruction, with 10% each for service and scholarly and creative activity. Perimeter faculty are responsible for providing 27-32 credit hours of instruction per academic year and engaging in service to the department, college, and university. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to early undergraduate teaching and learning, and the ability to thrive in a highly diverse academic setting. Teaching assignments may be on any of the college\'s campuses due to Perimeter College\'s multi-campus nature. Required Experience
A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in the K-12 environment. For assistant professor: some college teaching experience, which may include graduate teaching assistant work as an instructor of record, part-time instructor work, or similar experience. For associate professor: candidate must have held the rank previously at a comparable institution for a minimum of one academic year. Required Education
A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in the teaching field is required by the time of the appointment. The teaching field is defined as Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, Reading/Language Arts, Math Education, Social Studies, Science Education, Teaching & Learning, Learning Sciences, or Curriculum and Instruction. Other concentrations can be considered pending content review. Degrees with concentrations in Higher Education, Counselor Education, General Education or Higher Education Administration cannot be considered. Salary Range for Assistant Professor: $49,082 - $54,082. Salary range for Associate Professor: commensurate with experience; Candidate must have held the Associate Professor rank previously at a comparable institution for a minimum of one academic year. Current certification or eligibility for certification to teach at the P-12 level in the State of Georgia College teaching experience. One year is preferred and can include experience as a teaching assistant at a college or university. Experience teaching online and using a distance learning platform. Experience or demonstrated interest in high-impact educational practices, scholarship of teaching and learning, building college-to-career linkages, and/or other pedagogical initiatives that enhance student success. Experience or demonstrated interest in scholarship in the discipline and/or scholarship of teaching and learning. Experience in collaborating with local school districts or community-based education organizations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods with a demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology. Ability to create a sense of belonging for a varied student population and facilitate student learning in both the in-person and virtual learning environments. Effective oral and written communication skills. Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills (able to maintain appropriate records).
