Vice President at Solomon Page | Specializing in legal talent acquisition for private practices and in-house legal departments
Our client – a leading crypto‑focused investment manager in New York with several billion in AUM – is looking to add a lawyer to their team. They’re seeking an attorney with at least three years’ experience structuring and advising private funds, and some exposure to corporate transactional matters. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the business’ legal department and interface regularly with the company’s business teams as well as outside counsel, investors, and counterparties. It’s a highly collaborative group with excellent culture and low attrition. The role is hybrid (2‑3 days in office weekly); relocation support is available.
Compensation
– Up to $400 K annually (base salary up to $300 K + target annual performance cash bonus), with potential for carried interest.
Responsibilities
Lead or support the structuring and launch of hedge and venture fund vehicles.
Provide legal support on select corporate and transactional matters.
Advise on regulatory considerations related to digital asset investments; monitor and analyze developments in crypto‑related regulation.
Counsel portfolio companies on legal matters concerning cryptocurrency and blockchain.
Partner with investment professionals on diligence and structuring of investments.
Assist with corporate governance and litigation requests as needed.
Coordinate with external counsel and cross‑functional teams on various legal and business initiatives.
Provide operational legal advice as called for.
Required Qualifications
J.D. from a top‑tier law school.
Licensed and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
3–6 years of relevant experience, ideally from a top law firm and/or sophisticated in‑house legal department (experience at an AmLaw‑ranked firm a must).
Deep working knowledge of investment management law, with an emphasis on private funds and open‑ended funds.
Working familiarity with fund formation, operations, and advisory work.
Experience drafting and negotiating documents for an investment manager.
Experience working with clients in (or investing in) the digital asset and blockchain technology space a plus.
Excellent judgment, clear communication, and the ability to translate legal considerations into practical business advice.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑moving environment.
