We are seeking an experienced and client‑focused Senior Accountant to join our growing CPA firm. This role is designed for a professional who thrives in a client service environment and is passionate about helping privately held businesses gain clarity, confidence, and strategy through accurate accounting, proactive advisory, and comprehensive tax planning and preparation.
As a Senior Accountant, you will manage client relationships, oversee monthly accounting deliverables, prepare and review tax returns, and provide actionable insights that guide business owners toward smarter financial decisions. You will also mentor junior staff and play an active role in enhancing firm processes and client experience.
Key Responsibilities Client Advisory & Relationship Management
Serve as a trusted advisor to small and mid‑sized business clients, providing guidance on financial performance, cash flow, and tax strategies.
Lead monthly/quarterly client advisory meetings, presenting financial results and actionable insights.
Build strong, long‑term client relationships with owners, executives, and stakeholders.
Accounting & Compliance
Oversee and review bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation for assigned clients.
Prepare, review, and file federal, state, and local tax returns for businesses and individuals.
Ensure compliance with current tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
Monitor deadlines and ensure timely delivery of all client reports and filings.
Develop and execute proactive tax strategies to minimize client liabilities and maximize opportunities.
Conduct year‑end tax planning meetings with clients to align with their financial goals.
Stay current on changing tax legislation and communicate impacts and opportunities to clients.
Leadership & Team Support
Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff accountants, providing technical guidance and reviewing their work for accuracy.
Support partners in client onboarding, proposal development, and growth initiatives.
Contribute to process improvement, workflow efficiency, and the implementation of firm technology and systems.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
CPA designation strongly preferred (or working toward licensure).
5–7+ years of progressive public accounting experience, with a strong focus on tax and client advisory.
Experience working with privately held businesses ($2.5M–$25M in revenue range ideal).
Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local tax codes, compliance, and planning strategies.
Excellent communication and client‑facing skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in plain language.
High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Proficiency in accounting, tax preparation software, and Office 365.
Ability to manage multiple client engagements and competing priorities.
