Position Title: Senior Director of Family Economic Advancement

Supervises: Employment Services, Financial Empowerment and Weatherization, Small Business Development
The Senior Director of Family Economic Advancement leads the agency’s strategies to help individuals and families increase income, build assets, and achieve long-term economic stability. This role provides strategic oversight for programs focused on employment, workforce development, small business support, financial literacy, and income enhancement. The director works cross-functionally to remove barriers to economic opportunity, foster community partnerships, and ensure that services are culturally responsive and outcome-driven.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of economic advancement strategies aligned with the agency’s mission.
Set and monitor long-term goals for family income growth, workforce participation, and asset development.
Represent the organization in economic mobility partnerships and advocacy forums.
Oversee programs such as job placement, workforce readiness, financial opportunity centers, WEX (work experience), and small business development.
Ensure effective service delivery, compliance with funder requirements, and alignment with best practices in economic development.
Promote integration with other service areas including housing, education, and health.
Expand job readiness, career pathway, and supportive employment programs.
Oversee the delivery of financial coaching, credit building, tax preparation, and budgeting services.
Support small business clients and entrepreneurs through training and technical assistance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, financial institutions, training providers, and government agencies.
Collaborate with local economic development agencies and chambers of commerce to expand opportunities for clients.
Leverage public and private funding to grow program capacity.
Supervise and mentor program managers, employment coordinators, and financial empowerment staff.
Foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture focused on client success.
Ensure continuous training and professional development for all team members.
Monitor key performance indicators related to employment, earnings, savings, and business success.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting to funders, internal leadership, and partners.
Use data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
Develop and manage department budgets and program-specific grants.
Ensure compliance with financial protocols and responsible use of funds.
Identify and pursue grant opportunities aligned with economic advancement priorities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, or related field (preferred).
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership in workforce development, financial empowerment, or economic mobility.
Deep understanding of economic equity, asset building, and employment systems.
Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and build external partnerships.
Strong knowledge of federal and state workforce programs, financial tools, and entrepreneurial support.
Excellent data analysis, communication, and strategic planning skills.
Experience working with low-income, marginalized, or immigrant populations.
Familiarity with HUD self-sufficiency metrics, FOC models, or business development frameworks.
Skilled in using CRM and case management systems for outcome tracking.
