Conveyance Project Engineer – Hazen and Sawyer, Portland, OR
Base pay range: $110,000 – $160,000 per year.
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Conveyance Project Engineer for our Portland, OR office.
As part of our design and process teams, you will be working on the planning and design of new or rehabilitation of water, wastewater, and storm‑water pipelines.

Required Experience:
Senior project manager, design manager, or project engineer with full technical responsibility for planning, coordination, and execution of tasks for small to large projects.
Preparation of contract specifications and drawings.
Planning, design, and construction of new pipelines (pressure and gravity) ranging in diameters and material type, including condition assessment, prioritization, and rehabilitation of existing pipelines.
Hydraulic modeling and interpretation of results to inform design.
Pipe‑design calculations to determine pipe size, pressure class, external loads, trench design, and pipe joint selection.
Technical expertise in pipeline design layout and profiles in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Utility investigations and coordination to resolve vertical and horizontal utility conflicts.
Knowledge of subsurface and geotechnical engineering requirements.
Field surveying project requirements.
Sewer system evaluation surveys; inflow/infiltration studies.
Development and review of technical reports, proposals, contract documents, resources studies, and data analysis.
Office and field engineering support during construction.
Desired Experience:
NASSCO certification.
Exposure to field investigations, pipeline construction, and associated street reconstruction.
Proficiency in Revit/BIM and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software such as InfoWorks and SWMM-based tools.
Soil erosion and sediment control design, including stability calculations, best‑management practices, swale design, spillway design, and determination of construction sequence.
Permitting of soil and erosion control, stormwater, site plans, and drainage studies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum of 10 years of experience.
PE license required with ability to obtain registration in other states.
Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
Effectively and proactively coordinate with multiple disciplines (stormwater, civil, etc.).
