Overview
Development Associate (Hybrid) — Location: Lancaster, MA. Hybrid (remote and in-office flexibility). Salary: $50,000 - $52,000 per year. Sign-On Bonus: $2,500. Hours: 40 hours, Hybrid, Flexible hours.
Position Summary RFK Community Alliance seeks a detail-oriented and highly organized Development Associate to support the development and fundraising efforts of our organization. This position reports to the Events and Development Operations Manager and handles key administrative and donor-related tasks, including entering donor data, generating acknowledgment letters, reconciling gifts with Finance, conducting prospect research, writing donor profiles, and assisting with annual fund appeals.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Donor Data Management:
Enter and update donor data in the donor management system (e.g., Bloomerang) to ensure the accuracy and integrity of donor records, including personal information, gift history, communication preferences, and event participation.
Donor Data Management:
Track and record donations, pledges, and payments, ensuring all gifts are entered promptly and accurately in the system to maintain up-to-date donor profiles.
Donor Data Management:
Generate and send donor acknowledgment letters for gifts, including automated and personalized letters, ensuring timely and accurate acknowledgments to strengthen donor relations.
Donor Data Management:
Maintain donor segmentation by categorizing and tagging donors based on giving history, engagement, and communication preferences, to optimize future outreach and cultivation efforts.
Donor Data Management:
Assist in the maintenance of donor giving levels and recognition programs to ensure that donors are properly acknowledged and stewarded according to their level of support.
Donor Data Management:
Support data accuracy through regular data clean-up efforts, ensuring that outdated or incorrect information is identified and corrected, and that records are compliant with organizational standards and regulations.
Donor Data Management:
Prepare data for fundraising appeals, reports, and events, ensuring that segmented donor lists are up-to-date and accurate for mailing, event invitations, and targeted communications.
Weekly Reporting and Analysis:
Generate weekly reports on donor activity, contributions, and fundraising progress, and provide insights to the development team.

Gift Reconciliation and Finance Collaboration:
Support daily fiscal operations, including the tracking of incoming donations, the preparation of deposit reports, and ensuring accurate financial records in coordination with Finance.

Use a donor wealth screening tool to conduct research on potential and current donors, including wealth analysis and giving capacity.
Donor Research and Prospecting:
Provide research support for major donor prospects and foundations, identifying key opportunities for engagement and cultivation.

Write donor profiles that provide a comprehensive overview of donors' giving history, interests, and potential for future involvement.

Annual Fund Appeal:
Provide administrative support for general annual fundraising, including assisting with preparing segmented lists, working with the mail house to print letters, coordinating mailings, tracking gifts, and generating post-mailing reports to ensure effective follow-up and acknowledgment.
Annual Fund Appeal:
Assist in the preparation of letters and mailings for various fundraising efforts across departments, ensuring timely and accurate communication with donors and stakeholders.
Annual Fund Appeal:
Process and track quarterly pledge reminders, including running relevant reports, preparing and mailing reminder letters, and responding to donor inquiries and follow-up actions.
Annual Fund Appeal:
Monitor and track projections for all segments of the annual campaign, helping to assess the progress of fundraising goals and identify areas of opportunity for growth and engagement.
Administrative Support:
Assist in general administrative duties related to donor communications, data management, and event coordination.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience in development, donor relations, or administrative support, preferably within a nonprofit environment.
Qualifications:
Strong proficiency in CRM systems for donor data management and reporting.
Qualifications:
Experience with wealth screening tools is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to draft personalized donor correspondence and compelling donor profiles.
Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and organize large amounts of data.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with strong skills in data analysis and reporting.
