Description:

The College of Law, part of Georgia State University, is an urban‑centered law school located in the heart of Atlanta. We are growing and look forward to adding an Associate Director of Career Development to our team. The role advises students on job search application documents and strategies, creates and delivers career and professional development programming and materials, and cultivates relationships with employers and alumni to maximize student employment outcomes.

Here Is What You Will Do

Coordinate local, regional, and national job fairs (20+), and formal internal fall and spring interview programs; assist with career track/curriculum, and manage 5–6 educational and informational career seminars and workshops per semester. Assist with implementation of mock interview programs, and create departmental programs including 1L class curriculum, career resources, job search workshops, specialty presentations, and communications including production of weekly student newsletter.

Manage career advisement: provide individualized career counseling for law students and alumni, including one‑on‑one counseling sessions, exploration of practice area interests, resume and cover letter creation, development of interview skills and networking strategies, and facilitation of career progression.

Manage data collection and verification of reports for required annual employment outcomes.

Serve as professional development ambassador, actively build positive school and student reputation within the larger legal and employment community. Attend alumni events and bar events, assist with identification and development of employment opportunities, expand employer outreach within and beyond the state, build and maintain relationships within the COL and contribute to cross‑departmental collaboration. Meet as requested with prospective and admitted students, and attend Consortium, ALRA, NALP and Symplicity training events.

Qualifications Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and four years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Experience working in a university or college career services.

Career counseling experience, knowledge of the legal industry, and public speaking skills.

Obtained a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA‑accredited law school.
