About the Heart Institute Senior Business Director
Overview of responsibilities for oversight of Heart Institute hospital and CTS operations and financial management, revenue, expense, billing and coding, and human resource business justifications. This role includes development, implementation and oversight of gross revenue operating budgets, capital budgets, space planning, and the fiscal year budget roll up. It also involves governing the operational and financial management of the Heart Network as a strategic initiative to deliver incremental revenue, and contributing to Heart Institute and Institution-wide strategies. Leads 60+ indirect reports. Job Responsibilities
Financial Management:
Overall accountability for financial management functions for the organization s largest, most complex divisions or multi-division scope. Develop, implement, evaluate and manage the department s annual and capital budget; establish internal controls for cash management; implement and maintain financial controls and external financial audits; develop and implement accounts receivable management; analyze and monitor financial performance and report results to stakeholders; evaluate variances, determine underlying causes and propose solutions; establish and monitor productivity metrics; ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures. Directs resolution of complex business problems using advanced critical thinking. Collaborates with division leadership to drive business strategy.
Revenue Cycle:
Overall accountability for the Division s revenue cycle management, including optimizing revenue, accurate billing and compliant coding, monitoring charge capture, pricing, program development/expansion, effective denial management, and monthly revenue reporting.
Business Operations (Clinical):
Direct and coordinate daily clinical operations; establish and monitor processes to ensure effective operations; oversee clinical revenue cycle activities; design and monitor patient flow to maximize efficiency; develop policies and procedures for improved utilization and operations; identify opportunities to improve cost and quality of care and drive operational change; resolve issues with staffing, facilities, equipment and funds; interpret policies to ensure conformance with Medical Center guidelines.
Business Operations (Research):
Direct management of externally funded projects, including developing and executing divisional operating procedures for timely and compliant grant submissions; coordinate with Sponsored Programs and regulatory offices to ensure NIH and sponsor guidelines compliance for awards; monitor and disseminate revenue and expense information with PIs; identify and correct errors, project future expenditures and manage sponsor requirements for carry forwards; manage sub awards, invoicing, and deliverables with collaborating institutions; supervise research staff and space utilization for current and planned projects.
Human Resources Leadership:
Direct development and monitoring of a divisional staffing and retention strategy, including hiring, termination, workforce planning, and succession planning. Support development of managers and directors; participate in recruitment of clinicians, staff and faculty; manage faculty records and ensure compliance with accreditation standards; oversee faculty appointments in collaboration with the University; manage budget allocations and program expenses; support leadership in faculty conduct and performance management; promote growth and engagement of physician and faculty leaders as stakeholders aligned with the division and medical center objectives.
Accountable for divisional leadership of financial administration, business operations and human resource planning in the organization’s largest, most complex divisions or for multiple divisions in collaboration with the division director. Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Preferred: Master s degree in a related field
7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
