Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – CA Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians (required)
AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals (required)
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of an LVN/LPN program
Minimum 1 year LVN experience in a related clinical area
Ambulatory care experience
ACLS Certification (preferred)
Vocational Nurse IV Therapy/Blood Withdrawal Certification (preferred)
Essential Functions
Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skill in assigned area and within scope of practice; perform/assist with all tests and procedures in the department
Administer medications safely and accurately; verify with licensed provider; document all medication administrations
Prepare patients for examinations or procedures; obtain consent; label biopsies accurately
Document patient care accurately per protocol; partner with physicians to expand clinical knowledge; listen to patients and collect pertinent information
Resolve patient calls per physician instruction; schedule appointments as needed; provide patient education and teaching
Maintain infection control policies; use universal precautions; assist PSRs with front desk responsibilities
Participate in clinical projects and department efficiency initiatives; ensure readiness of reports and documentation for patient visits
Maintain appropriate supply levels; be cost conscious; support site inspections and inventories
Enter authorizations and schedule surgeries and procedures accurately and timely
Assist in other departments as assigned and travel to other sites as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Licensed Practical or Vocational Nursing skills
Prepare patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures
Observe patients; chart and report changes in condition; take action for adverse reactions
Collect samples (blood, urine, sputum) and perform routine laboratory tests
Adhere to professional standards and healthcare organization policies; meet federal, state, and local requirements; maintain joint commission standards
