NexGen Data Systems is seeking a LAN Lead Engineer to join a growing team. This position will be responsible for overseeing the Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure, which includes planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of network equipment such as switches and routers. The role also entails ensuring network security and compliance, developing technical specifications, and managing projects from inception to completion.
Roles & Responsibilities
Works under general supervision, developing the requirements of a product from inception to conclusion.
Develop required specifications for simple to moderately complex problems.
Coordinates with the Vendor PM, COTRs, and government user representatives to ensure accurate solutions and user satisfaction on technical matters.
Assist Network Engineering team with equipment lifecycle planning and installation, as well as development of technical specifications for procurement of Enterprise LAN equipment.
Coordinate with the Network Engineering team for the placement and cabling of LAN equipment within the DLA enclave.
Development of market research for new equipment and provide recommendations for Government point of contact.
Provide input on LAN designs and architecture as required.
Perform lab testing of LAN equipment.
Provide knowledge transfer to the NTS-LAN government staff.
Track assigned projects, provide regular updates to the Task Order Project Manager (PM) and Government POC.
Attend meetings regarding LAN support and assigned projects.
Task, track, monitor and report on tickets, projects, and special assignments within their area of responsibility.
Ensure LAN network diagrams are kept up to date with all diagrams being reviewed/updated at a minimum annually.
Desired/Required Skills
Active Department of Defense Secret, Critical Sensitive with a Tier 5/SSBI investigation level clearance.
8570/8140: DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Category IAT Level I.
Relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority.
Five (5) years of progressive LAN experience including at least two projects in technical task areas. At least one project must have occurred within the past three (3) years.
Required to take applicable DLA and Host Activity site specific safety training.
Required to take OSHA compliant Aerial Lift Training prior to the use of Aerial Lifts.
