Position Summary Full‑time Clinic Athletic Trainer 1 (H) in the Department of Orthopedic Sports Medicine, hire date June 2024. Provides direct patient care under physician supervision, evaluates and treats musculoskeletal pathology, and delivers patient‑centered education.
Core Responsibilities
Conduct health histories and physical assessments for acute, chronic, or potential injuries and illnesses.
Perform physical examinations including range‑of‑motion, strength, neurovascular, ligamentous, and functional testing.
Present cases and imaging results to attending physicians.
Transcribe, enter, and execute standing orders per practice agreement, including imaging, lab work, medication, referrals, and other modalities.
Provide patient education on rehabilitation exercises.
Fit and educate patients on orthopedic appliances, splints, braces, wraps, and provide billing information.
Perform wound care, casting, suturing, dressing changes, gait training, and removal of splints or braces.
Aid physicians with injection preparation, informed consent, timeouts, and supply management.
Complete surgical booking sheets and liaise between patient, surgeon, and coordinator.
Document patient care and communications in the electronic medical record.
Assist attorneys with paperwork such as medical leave forms or workers’ compensation documentation.
Maintain clinic appearance, filter schedules, and assist with billing, insurance authorizations, and appeals.
Adhere to University policies, protect assets, and safeguard confidential information.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Certification: Certified Athletic Trainer – Board of Certification (BOC) required.
Experience: No experience required.
Key Skills: Discretion with confidential information, leadership and training ability, commitment to university values, independent and collaborative work.
